Articles of Agreement made and entered into this eighth day of April, A.D. 1868, between Bvt Major J. M. Brown, Disbursing Officer Bureau Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands of the one part, and Levi Beach and James C. Evans, both of Washington City, District of Columbia of the other part.

This Agreement witnesseth, that the said Bvt Major J. M. Brown D.C. Bureau R.F. & A.L. for and on behalf of the United States of America and the said Levi Beach and James C. Evans, their heirs, executors, and administrators, have covenanted and agreed and by these presents do mutually covenant and agree to and with each other as follows; namely: -

First...That said Levi Beach and James C. Evans, their heirs, executors and administrations, shall do all the lathing and plastering work, with two (2) crates of plaster, (one (1) brown and one (1) white), all the materials to be furnished by the Bureau Refugees F. and A. Lands, at one (1) or more tenement houses, now being constructed by the Bureau R.F. & A.L. on Square No. 1054. "Capitol Hill" Washington, D.C.

Second...All work shall be guaranteed free from any imperfection of workmanship for the space of one (1) year from its completion and acceptance.

Third...In consideration whereof the said Levi Beach and James C. Evans shall receive therefor, the sum of (18) eighteen cents per square yard for all work done as above specified upon the completion of every ten (10) houses, and after inspection and acceptance by an designated officer of the Bureau R.F. & A. Lands.
