Dear Mrs. Junkin,

Thanks for your last letter, which I fully intended to answer at once. Things have been hectic of late, however, and I am really in a quandry as to what I should do. I would like to jump on a plane with my tape recorder and get right to work, but it seems that there is just too much to do here between now and the first of February. I am stuck with revising two books and these jobs cannot be put off any longer.

As I see it, I will probably need three days or so with you and probably an equal amount of time digging at the Smithsonian and Wright-Pat AF Museum. Possibly I can arrange this around the middle of February. Meantime, perhaps we should consider some sort of contract. I have never had occasion to enter into an agreement of this sort and don't really think it's necessary. But you may have other ideas on that score.

One question at this point: would I be entrusted with all necessary memorabilia, pictures, etc.?

I had quite a long chat with Charles Weaver the other day. It turns out he lives practically next door to my oldest pal from high school days. Small world.

Best regards,
John U.

PS. Did I send you copies of The Stinsons, etc.? I want you to have a better idea of the type of presentation I specialize in. I guess you'd call me a documentarian.
