Above Carl W. Thompson Jr. of Wilmington Del., right, and Grant Meeker of Elmira Amateur Radio Association, prepare the radio-controlled glider model for launching at Harris Hill. The little craft soared for several minutes over the brow of the hill and land by means of radio impulses. Below, radio experts gather around the tiny radio receiving set which is placed inside the glider. Note of the telegraph key in the hand of Mr. Thompson. It is used to transmit the impulses that direct the ship's movements. Lower right corner is Rose Hull, associate editor of QST, official organ American Radio Relay League. Lower left, Mr. Meeker. The miniature glider and its robot performed perfectly to achieve another milestone in experimental history at Harris Hill.
