putting their ship through its paces. They have won Glider Pilot's Licenses from the Department of Commerce and the National Glider Association. Their next step will be to nearby hills on windy days to try for the coveted Soaring License of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. 
With only a few hours of dual instruction on a powerplane the average Glider Pilot can qualify to solo it. He is then a better Pilot than he would have been had he purchased a complete powerplane course first and at only a fraction of the cost. He has not had to leave his job to attend a flying school. His club meets every evening and Saturday and Sunday that the weather is decent on a nearby field or on the Airport. The principle expense is for gasoline and oil for the automobile that tows the ship-less than a dollar a day.
Those owning the Franklin P-S-2 are not under necessity of spending thirty-five or forty dollars for a shock-cord, as the Franklin method of launching uses less than five dollars worth of quarter inch manila rope. Due to the P-S-2's highly efficient landing gear and perfect streamlining, quarter inch rope is strong enough for all auto towing.
