The 2nd. Soaring Meet 2 How to Let Gliding Live
or

The first group are the "obvious" good sports, you know the kind who talk loudly about fairness when there is a crowd. They have a real instinct for doing "such a sporting thing.
The other two groups manage to be deaf enough to the greedy ones to get their gliding and Soaring time recorded. The next move is up to the N.A.A to see that Justice is done....which was not done at the culmination of the Meet. With the new National Aeronautics Association Official we, real ones look for Justice. The returning pilots, (including myself, a victim of double intrigue, will be cleared up on return to Washington, D.C. This is also for the boys who earned their F.A.I. Soaring licenses, a very disgruntled bunch. (All licenses were called in and given THE ORDER WON!)
August issue
In the U.S. AIr Service Magazine/I told a story about Wolff Hirth, the German Ace Soaring pilot. Gus Haller, from Pa. and went to Germany to learn Glding from Wolff Hirth. He brought Hirth to U.S. who became a valuable U.S. Citizen. My story was an attempt to sell gliding to those who fly and "read," on the cleanness and restfulness of gliding vs. the daily with Politics and half-truths. I thought to give a glimpse of the fineness of Hirth so that we Americans should do no less. Any new endeavor needs the Proper Spirit coupled with a lot of Faith and the result can't hlep but be lasting.
This year at the "WASSERKUPPE" of Amrica..there was one person who most of all should have had some of the fineness of Kirth rub off onto himself, was an example of the rottenest sportsmanship....giving demonstrations of supposed good fellowship, and connived with another (who surprised no one) to all kinds of backbiting. I suppose he told his conscience he was practising loyal Americanism, and "he had to eat." All the glory he keot anyone from getting was so much on the UP and UP for him. There you have the spirit prevalent at the SECOND Glider Meet. No the spirit and "guts" of a real man, out anddoing,
