Three Accident

Three serious accidents occured [[occurred]] during the Contest. Major William L. Purcell suffered a fracture of the lumbar vertebra after a crash on East Ridge; Capt. Thomas Phillips, U.S.A. suffered a fractured skull and other very serious injuries in a crash under South Mountain and Fritz Germershausen suffered a serious leg fracture while auto-towing on the airport. We are pleased to be able to announce that all are doing very well and will completely recover. The fine work of the Hughes Ambulance service and the careful attention of surgeons and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital are in no small measure responsible for their improved condition.
