[[image]] A restful spot in the garden of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Gawler, 4344 Hawthorne Street, given first place, amateur class, in the annual Wesley Heights-Spring Valley Garden Contest in June. Other photographs of this and the garden below, will be found on pages 12 and 13. The picture shows to good advantage the manner in which garden privacy may be achieved by a careful and heavy planting.

[[image]] The same effect of privacy has been successfully created in the garden of Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Wynn, 2818 Forty-fourth Street, awarded second place, professional class, in the contest.
