Apropos of SUMMER BEACH WEAR

Lucky are those whose summer plans include places by the sea, for beach wear must be a part of the wardrobes and what can be more fascinating - yes, alluring, to make it a bit stronger - than the graceful beach ensembles? They are becoming to both maid and matron.

The variety of styles and materials is almost endless. They may be very concealing and they may be very revealing, so you may suit your taste and your figure. But with nudity in gowns stressed as a new fashion feature by one of the smartest Parisian couturiers, who worries about the revealing styles in beach wear?

And for all those who go in the water - such bathing suits! They are scantier and scantier. The backless suit only a short time ago was "lorgnetted" and frowned upon by those more or less conservative, but now if there is a strip of material here and a strip of material there with a modicum of assurity that they will stay in place they are accepted as bathing suits, and most fascinating they are, too, whether or not some grandmothers approve. Many grandmothers even rival their granddaughters in the startling cuts of their bathing suits.

The wool bathing suit continues to be most popular as it wears better. Then there are ginghams, taffetas, acetates (like silk jersey), and last but not least, except in material possibly, are the rubber bathing suits in most fascinating colors and styles. Do they wear well? Absolutely not guaranteed, but they are said to reduce. So who minds if several during a season are necessary - it is a grand, cheap way to lose some pounds and be having a jolly time in the process.

Did you ever sneak off for a swim sans bathing suit? Well, "they say" that swimming in a rubber suit feels just the same.

Shorts, which are as popular as they are fashionable, are going
