Pioneer revisits Chicago
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of commercial AirMail aviation, this Swallow biplane was reactivated recently after spending 42 years in mothballs. The plane is flown by Capt. E. E. (Buck) Hilbert, a United Airlines pilot, who found the Swallow disassembled and stored in a Chicago garage. As it flies above the Chicago River, plane is photographed by Sun-Timesman Jerry Tomaselli (inset) in a chase plane.
