January 9. 1922 6609 S. Troy St. Chicago, Illinois Jan 9, 1 Mr. John Gammeter The Goodrich Rubber Co. Akron, Ohio Dear Mr. Gammeter: While you were away I wrote you at the factory and was told that you were in the south hunting. Did you find any full quarts or were they all pints? Hope you had a pleasant trip. Regarding the letter I speak of I imagine that you have it by now as you were due home on the 8th and should have it by now. In it I asked; 1-Can you mould metal into the box as illustrated? 2-Can the veneer inside on the bottom be heavier than the rest of the veneer? 3-Can you mould it with the illustrated groves in the bottom inside, and with the hole in the front? 4-Can it be made to the [[strikethrough]] 1 [[/strikethrough]] 1/64 of an inch so that sliding parts and doors will always fit cold tight and still slide easily? (I imagine so as you told me it was made on steel moulds.) 5-Regarding expansion and contraction it should be nil, as with cork. Is it? 6-Is it salt brine proof? You know soft rubber is not. 7-It should take about three days to make the mould and I will come there to help. Could it be started right away? 8-What would be the approximate cost for each, in 100, 200 and 300 lots? Regarding all but the last question; I think with what you told me, the replt to my letter and what I know of the material, that I will find it satisfactory and will continue figuring on the rubber.
