What the Man Will Wear
Continued

Certainly this change has come about in evening dress and in the sporting kit.

The double-breasted, patch-pocket jacket looks casual, jaunty, loungy. It has not the rather stilted appearance of the single-breasted cut. Moreover, it lends trimmer and more youthful lines to the figure unless one's midriff or equatorial expansion is beyond hope. Then the double-breasted jacket should be pointedly avoided.

Portrayed in the foregoing sketch is the double-breasted jacket with two buttons; patch pockets; full, natural shoulders and peak lapels. It is cut to flex to the figure without overdoing it. English flannels, tweeds, cheviots and homespuns are notably in vogue— grays, blues, dark-browns, and dark-greens.

Morning.

Dovetailing with the more formal spirit that governs men's dress is the adoption of the avowedly Summer type of waistcoat for the early term of the season. Linen, to be sure, is the stuff most favored. It has a refreshing lightness which peculiarly fits it for May days. Either the single or double-breasted waistcoat may be worn.

Illustrated alongside is such a waistcoat of thin linen in solid tan, silver, dark-gray, dark-green or pastel hues. This garment is 2-button and well-waisted, with low-swung hook lapels. Though it seems to fit snugly, it is, in fact, rather loose, a trick in cutting of which the bigwig tailor is past-master.

Accompanying this waistcoat is the shirt with cross-striped bosom; the low round-cornered flexibly starched collar and the sailor's knot cravat of Spitalfields of Macclesfield silk foulard. —BEAUNASH
