SHORT CUTS TO BEAUTY

SO that you won't get lost in a maze of pre-Christmas worries and entirely neglect your one valuable face during these next weeks,we're going to lead you to a small handful of beauty necessities that will see you through the strain with the least possible expenditure of time and energy. In a pinch its a wonderful thing to have an all-purpose lotion on hand; a lotion that will cleanse and tone your skin and act as a satisfactory powder base. There is such a lotion and it's made by an important French cosmetician. It's a milky white liquid, nicely scented and not sticky. It's not a bad idea to use it for your hands too--instead of soap. Just wash them in lotion and rinse them with warm water (really hot or cold water coarsens the skin's texture). You'll find that when time is at a premium this lotion will do all the work you need in two or three minutes a day.

When you're out all day shopping and gadding it's practically impossible to do anything about re-touching your rouge. The only way to have an even, attractive effect all day long is to start out in the morning with a cream rouge. There's a new one that's particularly good. It'll stay on as long as you want it to, but cleansing cream or soap and water will remove it entirely. In other words, it's not indelible. They've made it with a finishing cream base so that it goes on smoothly and doesn't give you a shiny, greasy look. There are five shades to choose from, which makes it practically impossible to go wrong.

Something that's just as important as a dependable rouge for day-long sessions is a reliable non-perspirant and deodorant. An especially good one comes in powder form. Its outstanding blessing is that you can use it right after shaving, for it won't irritate your skin. The system is to dampen your hands and arm-pits (or whatever spots perspire too freely) with cold water, then sprinkle on some of the powder. If you use it before going to bed at night its effect is more lasting. It won't harm your nightgown.
