something called "The Purple Road" at the now demolished Casino. Then, hearing that Bonnie Glass needed a dancing partner he deserted both art and song and soon became accepted as one of the leading ball-room dancers of New York. For many seasons he danced in a round of important musical comedies both on Broadway and in London, and once he played a long engagement at the Ambassadeurs in Paris. One season he went "legitimate," appearing with Mary Boland in "Meet the Wife." After engagements in "Sonny" and "Treasure GIrl" he came into his own as one of the most important revue artists in America in the "First Little Show" at the Music Box. Here his talent for character impersonation began to get the outlet which it subsequently found in "Three's a Crowd" and "Flying Colors." No other male entertainer on the American musical comedy stage does quite so many things so well as does Mr. Webb.

HELEN BRODERICK is the daughter of the famous William Broderick, long a stand-by of the well-known Bostonians. Ordered not to go upon the stage, it is hardly necessary to state that she took the command in reverse English and suddenly bobbed up as a member of the chorus in one of the early Ziegfeld Follies. Later, going into vaudeville with Lester Crawford, her first and only husband, she became a fixture in that field of theatrical endeavor and toured from one end of the country to the other for many years. A certain acid quality in her comedy method and her ability to perform the difficult feat of "throwing lines away" and getting her effects by deliberately under-playing won her an engagement in an important role in "Fifty Million Frenchmen" in which extravaganza she was first "discovered" by the Broadway reviewers. She repeated her success in that entertainment when she appeared in the leading feminine comedy role in "The Band Wagon."
