Dear folks,

The maids have just (yesterday) cleaned out our closets, and there hangs an odor strongly reminiscent of the DDT with which you used to wash the floor.

Money received, and needed.

What did Mrs. Rosse call her daily column? You'll have to name yours, Dad. I venture that yours, with its sprinkling of French (langue élégante) and [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] snow and kitties would be just as enthusiastically received by the U.S. PUBLIC as hers. I'm glad the Cat is still full of life & jealousy. You should not be complaining about le botaniste belge..but you aren't, of course! I have sent the [[cat?]]. & hope the Express man has has begun its journey by now; I must call up Grandma & see later in the week, as I'm not going home this end.

Weather. I writ a little poem:

    Ruddy spring-time sun
Leaped out of bed to run
A mile before his breakfast; but he found
Scattered white innocence playing on the
    ground.

    Redder spring-time sun,
    Shamed by what he'd done,
(For fair virtue's frightened into tears)
Hangs his head; nurse-cloud her babies rears.

So it snowed again; and is all gone again, now.

English hour exam Monday wasn't bad--quite fair, with 4 spot passages, 5 identifications of characters, and 1 long essay on whether Smallett wasn't a caricaturist & Fielding a real humorist. I thought so; other people didn't; I hope Whiting can see both sides. Incidently [[sic]], I have an 800 word paper to write on that very subject for next Wednesday. Don't know when I'll have the time. I didn't get any A+, but an A [[underlined]] + [[/underlined]] A-.

I also got a letter from Robert yesterday also. He spoke of sending down a History book. And Beatrice Monk invited me to an opera on March 27!

Last night after swimming I went over and ate supper with Judy Tainter at her mother's apartment. She's living outside at a family home where she gets room and board for minding three children.
