Dear Doris:

I wonder what question in particular you want answered, - you say you wish letters could be answers. I wish they could, too. I'd like to know for one thing when you plan to arrive and how you plan to get your room cleared out. Another thing, you bought (for about $8 or $10) a pair of gym shorts and shirts. Have you ever received them? Look into this and get them if you haven't. If you should have time why don't you get yourself a summer dress or two (2 for $1.99 they are selling here), but the selection up there ought to be a great deal better I should think. You can send any extras down via parcel post. I suppose that will be how you will have to get your stuff out to Stoughton, too, in a big grocery carton, maybe.

I hope you will do well on your exams, tho' you must be tired. Try to get to bed early and use the daylight for studying. I am glad your Biology notebook got a good grade and hope you do as well on the exam. Grandma writes wistfully about "perhaps Doris will be out this week end". You must spend some time with her whether you like it or not and see that everything is all right with her, lawns mowed, etc. And see your woollens are safely packed for the summer. You should see the Weatherbys etc. before you leave too.

It is hot and muggy here with lots of showers. But the gardens need this sort of weather to catch up on, they are so late. Baby birds are cheeping all around. A young song sparrow lighted on my arm yesterday as I stood out back surveying your fern bed.
