Dear Doris:

Today we went to Plum Pt. The day was fine, with a fair breeze. The banks were badly covered up with the winter's or spring's slides, and very little was exposed. I got only 2 or 3 sheets, + we picked up only about half a dozen sharks' teeth, none of them worth keeping. We lay in the sun quite a while and dozed off 2 or 3 times. Both of us got pretty well burned on the face.

Wed. night we went to the Shriners' Circus. It was small as circuses go, but quite enough to watch. There was the usual lion + tiger act, which made us both nervous, + we were glad when they were back in their cages (out of sight). There were various trapeze + balancing acts, which get rather boring to me. The best act, I think, was that put on by a couple of trained seals, and the best part of that was when 1 seal, on his platform, stretched his hind legs out behind him and raised [[image]] himself up on 1 flipper. They balanced balls on their noses, 2 usual, and 1 climbed his steps balancing a ball on top of a cornucopia on his nose. Then there was a barrel act with half a dozen dachshunds, who wove in and out among the barrels and stood on top of the barrels + rolled them along, and then lay inside the barrels + rolled them off the platform. There were also three elephants + various other dogs + some clowns. A very highly painted-up woman wandered around among the seats, while we were
