Dear Doris:

You guessed about right as to our reaction to your plan for a summer course at Petersham - we are definitely against it this summer. You also stated the principal reasons in disfavor of it very clearly - we want to see you, & Dolores wants to see you, and grandma wants to see you; you would miss all our trips to the beach, and take half the fun out of them if we had to go without you; you would miss the chance to do some work & earn some money, which you were so set on doing only a couple of weeks ago (besides, you would get some instruction in learning to live with people if you were on a job, though you probably wouldn't get much chance for psychoanalysis); and finally, it would cost quite a lot of money (I am now figuring out my Va. tax bill, which also is going to cost quite a bit of money). So reconcile yourself to coming down with us when school closes & then going on to Stoughton.

Love,
Dad
