A snitch before English. Whiting gave a reasonably good lecture on Jane Austen today: her family life had no interesting blemishes, and her sense of humor defied his wit.

I did something I now think may be unwise: last morning I put a note in Judy's box, asking if she wouldn't like to take up the sailing plans we'd made earlier, such nice weather as it was. [[strikethrough]] She hadn't [[/strikethrough]] That evening I got a call from her Dick, asking me to the square dance Saturday night. Thinking his call the immediate product of my note (?why?), I accepted. Later I called her to find her so sick she couldn't answer phone (at least, I didn't have the woman rout her from bed). Now, if he is going to be insistant, shouldn't I accept and end it all? Perhaps I can scare him away then. Or should I? She must know he is asking, and is it worse still if I go? Then, perhaps he had just asked her and found her sick, and wanted to take someone. No, I think, when he calls again, I'll fix up a good story.
  
Biology lab was fun today: we worked on fungi, the complex Basidiocetes to unseeable bacteria dipped in blue stains. Ine & I stayed until almost 6 finishing, and what a time we had coming back!: She put me on [[strikethrough]] the bi [[/strikethrough]] Dex's bike (she uses) side-saddle.
