FROM THE FLYING PIONEERS BIOGRAPHIES OF HAROLD E. MOREHOUSE

suddenly of a heart attack in New York City on January 13, 1937. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel S. Atwater, his mother, Mrs. J. R. Atwater, a brother, Eugene S. Water, two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Ayres and Mrs. J. A. Musson, and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills, New York. While Mrs. Atwater apparently took some flying instruction and was always interested in his flying, she evidently did not continue her practice and was not licensed.

Flying Pioneer William B. Atwater took up flying at first as a sport and then went on to make a lifetime career in aviation, and contributed much toward the progress of American aviation history. As one of that sizable fraternity of early Curtiss students, he continued to play an active part through those early days of pioneering and experimentation that made possible the air age enjoyed by the world today.
