During World War II Barlow was a civilian instructor, first for the R. A. F. at the Lancaster, California, where he trained students until the school was moved to Canada. At that time he was transferred to the United States Army Cadet flight training program at Chino, California where he remained until the end of the war.

Following this Barlow became part owner and manager of the Whiteface Ranch at Shoreham, Vermont, where he remained for some time. Still living, he has a winter home in Bradenton, Florida and spends his summers in Vermont. He is a member of the Early Birds and maintains active interests in retirement.

Early Bird, Flying Pioneer Floyd E. Barlow devoted the major part of his active life to activation and deserves much credit for his contribution to its development and assistance towards creating the great industry it has become today.
