work as they were better suited for inverted and acrobatic flying. That month he announced The Lincoln Beachey Company, Inc., Chicago, Illinois as a booking office.

On April 11th he left France for the United States with two 80 H.P. 7-cylinder Gnome motors. At this time Art Nix, Warren Eaton, Hillery Beachey and Al Hofer were building a small 21 foot span Curtiss-type pusher biplane in Chicago for one of the Gnome engines. Beachey started flying this plane at Cicero Field on May 12th and continued tests there until May 16th when he flew it across the city to Grant Park to start a 4-day looping engagement, making two flights a day. There before immense crowds of wildly cheering people he put on tremendous shows of looping, upside down flying and antics, the likes of which the city had never seen.

From there Beachey went east to put on a 3-day show at Brighton Beach, New York beginning May 22d, and there he again raced Oldfield. He next looped at the Michigan State Fair Grounds, Detroit, May 30th and 31st again racing Oldfield. Following this he exhibited at Belleville, Ontario, Canada, then went to Hartford, Connecticut where he had a minor smashup, but was not injured. On June 18th he was at Winnipeg, Canada, then Terre Haute, Indiana on July 4th where he put on a great show. A great show of looping was put on at Dubuque, Iowa on July 18th, then on August 1st he was at Dayton, Ohio, where he was complimented by Orville Wright as the greatest aviator of his time. August 15th and 16th Beachey and Oldfield were at the Hawthorne Race Track, Chicago, Illinois before huge throngs, August 26th and 27th he was at Clarinda, Iowa, and at Des Moines August 28th to 31st.

Beachey's schedule for the 1914 season was probably the busiest of his entire career, virtually covering the United States. As an indication of this he exhibited at twelve different towns in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Iowa during the month of August, using his 80 Gnome biplane and completing his 567th loop. About that time he added extensions to the upper wing of his plane to improve the lift at towns of higher altitudes.

In early September he exhibited for one week at St. Louis, Missouri, then on September 28th put on his entire show at Washington, D.C., witnessed by President Wilson and many Government dignitaries. Started from Potomac Park he made three

Unsure about separating cylin-der or keeping as cylinder. Furthermore, does "FROM THE FLYING PIONEERS BIOGRAPHIES OF HAROLD E. MOREHOUSE" need to be placed and if so, where should this be placed? This is my first time transcribing.
