dives, tight spirals and roller-coaster antics. There, he and Glenn Martin also conducted a series of night flying experiments.

Beachey was a contestant at the Oakland, California, Meet February 17th to 25th, following which he took a well-earned vacation. He resumed flying on May 11th at College Park, Maryland, to conduct military requirement tests of a large dual-control Curtiss machine for the Curtiss Company. The trials required a climb of 2,000 feet in ten minutes with a 450 pound load. On June 8th, Beachey flew at a small Yale Aero Club meet at New Haven, Connecticut, disguised as a woman and was introduced as "Madame Helene" who knew practically nothing about flying. Discarding his usual graceful style he took off in a wobbling dash, then cavorted and careened wildly about the grounds just missing everything in sight, ready to crash any moment, then the trick was revealed when, as his wig fell off, he made a graceful landing.

On June 15th Beachey flew at Evansville, Indiana, with Kearney, then on the 17th he and Havens flew at Kokomo, Indiana. June 19th he was at Elmira, New York, then was a contestant at the Boston Meet starting June 29th. There all the pilots had their licenses suspended for flying at an unsanctioned event. These were reinstated on August 31st. At Boston Beachey carried mail on July 2nd. He then flew at Owensboro, Kentucky, on July 4th, Elmira, New York, on July 6th, and Hamilton, Ohio, July 12th and 13th with Havens. There he again carried mail. July 17th and 18th he flew at Benton Harbor, Michigan, and carried mail. [[crossed-out]]July 17th and 18th he flew at Benton Harbor, Michigan, and carried mail.[[/crossed-out]] He flew at Nutwood Park, Dubuque, Iowa, before huge crowds; on August 21st at Rockport, Indiana, where he carried mail, then on the 23rd he flew at Plainfield, New York, and again carried mail.
