Curtiss land plane at College Park which had been assembled by three enlisted men from parts they ahd been saving for some time. The three men were: Sgt. J. F. Hartman and Pvts. A. H. Mix and Abe Martin. Mix later became Beachey's mechanic. November 28th to December 2nd Beachey was at the Ascot Park Meet in Los Angeles, and while there did some flying with a new small Curtiss 24 foot span tractor biplane with a 75 [[strikethrough]H].[[strikethrough]p]. Curtiss engine. [[strikethrough]Then] On December 23rd he was at the Tanforan Park Meet in San Francisco.
    As 1912 ended Beachey announced he had quit flying because he felt he had caused several aviators to lose their lives trying to copy his feats of daring. There is evidence that he left the Curtiss Exhibition Company at that time and undoubtedly operated entirely on his own after this period, with William Pickens as his exhibition promoter. On January 10h, 1913, Beachey left New York for a European vacation, but was back on the West Coast in April visiting [[strikethrough]aeroplane] airplane companies, and had entered into vaudeville appear[[strikethrough]e]ances where he lectured on aviation while movies of his flying feats were shown. In May the Beachey Aviation Company of Chicago was formed to give exhibition flights. Incorporators were Samuel Du Vines, Isaac Tarnopol and Ray Mervin. In late June Beachey was in Chicago as one of the promotion officials of the Great Lakes Reliability Cruise and was also appearing at the Palace Theatre there in the vaudeville act.
    By late August Beachey could no longer resist the urge to return to flying and arranged to ahve a special acrobatic type pusher made for his use by the Curtiss Company. this was a small 24-foot span extra-strong, specially brace ma-chine with the latest 90-100 [[strikethrough]H].[[strikethrough]p]. The French aviator Pegoud had made [[strikethrough]his first] a so-called loop in Europe on September 13th and Beachey became intensely interested and was determined to out-do Pegoud. [[strikethrough]The Frenchman's evolutions had been a type of forward somersault, but] Beachey planned to do an actual up-and-over loop.
    His new plan was ready for test on October 7th and he started by making two short flights. All Hammondsport was anxious to see what Beachey was going to do and
