Early Bird, Flying Pioneer Walter Brookins was indeed one of the most outstanding early American civilian aviators and remained interested in it throughout his lifetime. History must well record his name as one of the first who took faith in flying and so diligently helped to demonstrate it to a doubting public. An early favorite of the Wright Brothers, who placed great faith in his ability, he contributed much to their aviation accomplish-ments.

His name appears on the Wright Memorial Plaque at Dayton, Ohio, along with the other pioneers who learned to fly there.
