deGiers became an early member during the initial period of the Early Birds organization and was soon active in the affairs of the fraternity, serving as President during 1954-1955. In December of 1954 he was one of an Early Bird committee to plan and arrange for the erection of the Early Bird Monument on Governors Island to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of powered flight and the history of that site as the start or finish of many pioneer flights covering the period of 1909 to 1916.

During World War II his Liquidometer Corporation produced quantities of A and N instrument and accessory equipment for the war effort.

deGiers is living in retirement on Long Island and is also a member of the QB's and Wings Club of New York.

Flying Pioneer, Early Bird Clarence A. deGiers was one of the early group of flying enthusiasts to confidently take a serious interest in aviation and contributed his part in early American aviation history and his name must be recorded in the annals of aerial conquest.
