country flight in Canada when he flew from Vancouver up the Fraser River for 20 miles and returned. In April he flew in Texas and was at San Antonio on April 20th to 25th at an air meet and carried passengers. Also flying at that event were Curtiss, Willard, Mars and [[circled]] Capt. [[/circled]] Baldwin. Hamilton [[crossed-out]]He[[/crossed-out]] rapidly developed a schedule of fancy flying capers of dips and dives that held his audiences spellbound. In May he was in Georgia and Florida and on June 1st was flying at Mineola, Long Island. [[crossed-out]] New York [[/crossed-out]]

On June 13th he [[crossed-out]] probably [[/crossed-out]] made the most outstanding flight of his fabulous flying career when he flew from New York to Philadelphia and return that day, winning the $10,000 prize offered by the New York Times and the Philadelphia Public Ledger to the first aviator to complete such a flight. He was guided by a Pennsylvania Railroad train both ways. Leaving Governors Island, New York at 7:43 [[crossed-out]] 37 A.M [[/crossed-out]] a.m. he arrived in Philadelphia at 9:26, a distance of 85 miles. As he arrived he was received by [[circled]] Gov. [[/circled]] Stuart of Pennsylvania and the Mayor  of Philadelphia. Hamilton carried letters both ways to the Governors and Mayors of each [[left-margin]][[?]][[/left-margin]] [[crossed-out]]S[[/crossed-out]] state. After a two-hour rest and a luncheon, he left Philadelphia at 11:33 [[crossed-out]] 43 A.M. [[/crossed-out]] a.m. but was forced to make a landing at South Amboy, New Jersey, [[crossed-out]] with [[/crossed-out]] because of missing spark plugs; [[crossed-out]] and in [[/crossed-out]] when landing he broke the rudder. Curtiss and a mechanic came from New York with a new one and Hamilton resumed his trip at 6:20 [[crossed-out]] 00 P.M. [[/crossed-out]] p.m., landing at Governors Island at 6:40 [[crossed-out]] P.M. [[/crossed-out]] p.m., establishing a new distance record for one day's flying. [[crossed-out]] This flight has also been credited with possibly being the first inter-city airline. [[/crossed-out]] During all of Hamilton's flying at this time, he was using the same plane Curtiss used in winning the Gordon Bennett Race in France the previous year. On June 19th to 26th Hamilton flew at Camp Dickerson, Nashville, Tennessee, at a [[crossed-out]]M[[/crossed-out]]military [[crossed-out]] T [[/crossed-out]] tournament. There he made two night flights with an acetylene tank and lamp attached to his plane, [[crossed-out]] making [[/crossed-out]] the first flight in the early evening, the [[crossed-out]]n an[[/crossed-out]] other at 11:00 [[crossed-out]] P.M. [[/crossed-out]] p.m. On June 18th and 19th he flew at Louisville, Kentucky, with Curtiss and Mars. July 2nd to 4th he thrilled his home town of New Britain, Connecticut, with a great show of his most reckless stunts. About this
