He remained with the Moisant Company through 1914, then from 1915 to 1919 was Director of Military Aviation for the Guatemala Government.

After returning to the United States he gave up flying and went into the hotel business, ultimately owning and managing the Cornwall Inn of Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, New York. Later he was associated with the Warwick Hotel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and reportedly passed away in 1942, at age 61.

Shakir S. Jerwan was a member of the Early Birds, Aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association, and the National Aeronautic Association.
