following a sudden heart attack. He was survived by his wife, a son and two daughters. He was a Founder Member of the Early Birds, a Shriner,  member of the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences and National Aeronautic Association, as well as a member of the Dayton Engineers Club and Kiwanis.

Flying Pioneer, Early Bird Edward A. Johnson had a very distinctive career in early American aviation history and contributed much toward its progressive development. A very competent and active pilot, he established and conducted a successful aircraft and flying business for several years and was well known and highly respected throughout the industry.
