airplanes. There on May 23rd he obtained French Flying License No. 470, [[strikethrough]] flying [[/strikethrough]] piloting a company plane at the Villacoublay Flying Field. He did considerable engineering and design work for the Astra-Wright Company that year, and by late Summer a new plane was introduced which incorporated many major changes which he had made and developed. The company entered this plane in the French Military Trials in November, 1911. In October, 1911 he was made Manager of the Villacoublay Flying Field. It is not known what became of him after that time.
  
Duvall LaChapelle was better known as a mechanic than as a pilot, but he nevertheless did contribute toward early development of aviation in America.
