Warren Eaton and Al Hofer built a new small 21-foot span biplane in Chicago, made especially for looping and for use with the Gnome engine. Called the "Little Looper" Beachey conducted the first tests of this new plane at Cicero Field, Chicago, on May 12th to 16th, then started a very active season of acrobatic and loop flying by showing four days at Grant Park on Chicago's lakefront, making two flights a day before immense crowds of wildly cheering people as he put on tremendous shows of looping, upside-down flying and [[strikethrough]] antics [[/strikethrough]] acrobatics, the likes of which the city had never seen before.

Throughout the rest of 1914 and into 1915 Mi enjoyed the enviable opportunity to travel with and assist Beachey in becoming the "Peer of all aviators." They exhibited extensively during that period, showing at most major cities all across the country, traveling in their own two special railway cars, one their living quarters, the other for the plane and equipment. Everywhere people came by the thousands to see Beachey perform the impossible. It was hard work, but the intrigue of it all remained with Mix for the rest of his life.

Toward the end of 1914 Beachey became seriously interested in [[strikethrough]] making [[/strikethrough]] using a monoplane for his work. While Beachey and Mi continued their exhibition schedule he had Warren Eaton and Hillery Beachey make the monoplane he wanted in the Christofferson Aeroplane Company shop in San Francisco. It was a small light mid-wing machine of 26-foot span [[strikethrough]] to use the Gnome motor. [[/strikethrough]] powered with a Gnome engine. The wing was wired [[strikethrough]] braced [[/strikethrough]] guy, top and bottom. [[strikethrough]] and the machine had [[/strikethrough]] There was a tricycle landing gear.

At that time Beachey had signed a contract to give daily exhibitions at the Panama Pacific Exposition [[strikethrough]] to open [[/strikethrough]] opening on February 21, 1915. Beachey conducted some flight testing of the monoplane prior to that time on the ocean beach near San Francisco, using the Gnome motor from his biplane. Neither Beachey nor his crew were satisfied with it, however, on March 13th, he used it for the first time in his show at the Fair. On the 14th he flew it again, subjecting it to some additional stunts. [[strikethrough]] over the previous day. [[/strikethrough]] He had been looping at 5,000-6,000 feet altitude, then he started a dive.
