righted and towed ashore, soaked but not seriously damaged. Even though his landing was embarrassing his plucky demonstration of the ability to take off and fly the Hydro in such a high wind and very rough water had created a more favorable impression than he realized, for the Europeans figured if man and machine could come through such an ordeal as they had just witnessed without injury, water flying must really be safe.

By February 21st Robinson had completed all required taste of the Hydro at Juan les Pins before French and Russian officers and had taught Paulhan and some of the men to fly it. Word of his Hydro demonstrations had spread and many of the European aviation fraternity flocked to see his flying which was quite a revelation to them. Robinson remained on the Riviera and in March he and Paulhan flew Hydros in the world's first Hydroaeroplane Meet at Monte Carlo. Since their machines were the only ones entered capable of operating n rough weather they were hoping for a break, but unfortunately both wind and water were calm throughout the event and they were outpointed by the passenger carrying abilities of the larger French machines. 

Robinson returned to the United States on April 11th and started preparing for the New York Hydro Race on May 4th and 5th. As a result of his wonderful demonstrations in Europe the Curtis Company began receiving orders at once from many foreign governments which actually started their export business. Paulhan ordered several and also produced some in France under a royalty agreement. The new York Hydro Races were the first ever held in this country and preceded the opening of the National Aero Show at Grand Central Palace. Entered were: Robinson, Witmer, Havens, Brookins, Coffyn, Cliff Webster, and Phil Page. Following this event Robinson returned to Hammondsport where he took up test and instruction work. On June 9th he flew Dr. P. L. Alden on a mercy flight from Hammondsport to the far end of Lake Keuka to attend a badly injured boy, getting the doctor there by Hydro a few minutes after the call. Although he had given up exhibition flying Robinson exhibited a Hydro at Bay City, Michigan July 3rd and 4th and Saginaw, Michigan July 6th and 7th. Returning to Hammondsport he assist-
