husband, who had become a pilot in World War I, died soon after on November 3rd.

Flying Pioneer Katherine Stinson was one of the truly greats of the early flying era in America. Although she was a slight, frail girl, she was an expert pilot, insisting that she could do anything with an airplane that a man could do. She sought opportunities to do so. She was the oldest of the famous "Flying Stinsons," the others being Edward, Marjorie and Jack. Undoubtedly it was due to Katherine's initial success that the others followed her lead in aviation. A remarkable family, with their mother as business manager, they attained international fame.

Katherine received many well-deserved decorations and awards in the United States and in foreign countries. She richly deserves an honored place in the records of early American aviation history.
