In the fall of 1966 Waterman complete an exact display replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer for the Gilmore Museum of Transportation of Kalamazoo, Michigan. On July 1st, 1959 the San Diego Historical Society dedicated a Plaque to Waterman and placed it on a monument at the site of his first 1909 glider experiments for his extensive contributions to aviation engineering research and building of aircraft. On January 21st, 1967 ge was elected the "Man of Distinction" Award in the field of aviation by a civic group at San Diego. Waterman holds numerous patents on aircraft and automotive devices. As of March 1st, 1968 he was a senior currently licensed FAA Commercial Pilot, 58 years and 8 months since his first solo flight.

Waterman is one of the founder members and a past President of the Early Birds and holds a Life Membership in this most distinguished organization. He also holds membership and has served on the staffs of the following aviation fraternities: the Couthern [[Southern]] California Chapter N.A.A., The Professional Pilots Association and the California Air Industries Association. he is an Associate Fellow of the I. A. S., a charter member of the American Helicopter Association, a member of the 0X-5 Club and Was "Mr. 0X-5" in 1961. Waterman is an Honorary Member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, The Antique Aircraft Association that the San Diego Aero-Space Museum. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and in 1968 was elected to the International Aero-Space Hall of Fame, and inducted on September 7th. Waterman's boundless energy is still not content and he is currently building another plane, using a Chevrolet Convair [[Corvair]] air-cooled automobile engine driving a geared-down propeller.

Flying Pioneer, Early Bird Waldo D. Waterman is truly a most extraordinary aviation pioneer of self-built aircraft and the flying of the them since the very beginning of flight. Few men have contributed more toward the creative development of unusual and outstanding aircraft during his active lifetime. An ambitious, hard working man who never hesitated to try new ideas and apply their possible application to the art, his accomplishments are legend.
