Wiseman was not a licensed pilot but did become a member of The Early Birds of Aviation. On August 17, 1968 the city of Petaluma unveiled a suitably inscribed monument to Fred J. Wiseman in Kenilworth Park during a public ceremony in his honor.  
Flying pioneer Fred Wiseman was one of the true pioneers of the first decade of aviation. Self-taught, in an airplane that he had designed and helped to build, he became a safe and competent pilot entirely by his own hard work and courage. American aviation history and historians of air mail must duly record him and other enterprising young men who [[strikethrough]] took [[/strikethrough]] had faith in the airplane and demonstrated their convictions at a time when flying was subject to ridicule.
