SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION 1216

Another proviso in this will stipulates that the proceeds of the sale of Dr. Hrdlicka's half of a building lot be invested by the Institution and the income used for the reprinting of Dr. Hrdlicka's papers on physical anthropology. When this republication is accomplished, then the principal of the fund is to go to the National Academy of Sciences. Another codicil suggests that Mrs. Hrdlicka may care to donate her half interest in the lot in question to increase the fund described. It was recommended that this part of the bequest be refused, as it would take so long to accumulate the necessary income to accomplish the publication that no useful purpose would be served. The publications are now available, and the value of their reprinting is questionable.

In accordance with the above recommendations, the following resolution was moved and adopted:

RESOLVED: 1. That the devise to the Smithsonian Institution in the Third clause of the Codicil dated July 16, 1940, to the Will of Ales Hrdlicka, deceased, dated April 6, 1939, and the conditional provision in the Fourth clause of said Codicil, would be burdensome and impractical in administration, and they are, therefore, hereby renounced, and

2. That the devise in trust to the Smithsonian Institution in the Second clause of said Codicil be and hereby is accepted, and

3. That a copy of this Resolution be promptly delivered to the legal representative of the Estate of the said Ales Hrdlicka, deceased.
