SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION 1277

Institution was the release in August of a motion picture on the Smithsonian and its work by RKO-Pathe, Inc., a 20-minute documentary film entitled "Treasure House" in the series "This Is America." Officials of the motion picture company state that the film would be shown in 10,000 theaters and would be seen by some 25,000,000 people.

Mr. McConnell asked to be excused at 11:35 a.m. stating that his presence was required at another meeting.

Dr. Bush suggested an evening session, to include dinner, for the next Regents Meeting, stating that the members of the Board would then have time to listen to the detailed reports by the Secretary on the various activities of the Institution. Mr. Cannon remarked that it was quite possible that full attendance could be secured if the time were set at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Without objection, the Secretary was instructed to explore the practicability of arranging the next meeting of the Board of Regents at some suitable time whereby the members might have a dinner meeting and a period devoted to reports and discussion.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the Regents, the Board adjourned at 12:15 p.m., and the Regents continued their inspection of the assembled exhibits.
