SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION 1325 THAT the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution does not consent to the application of the Federal Civil Service Laws, nor the Federal Classification Act of 1923, as amended, to such officers and members paid from trust funds, nor to the application of any other law which would in any way contravene the Act of Establishment of the Smithsonian Institution approved on August 10, 1846, with amendments thereto. FEDERAL APPROPRIATIONS The Secretary submitted a copy of the existing status of Federal Appropriations as follows: Regular Appropriations for 1951 $2,600,000 Estimate for 1952 2,557,000 Decrease for 1952 $ 43,000 While there is a net decrease of $43,000 in the estimates for 1952 as compared to the appropriation for 1951, new funds to the extent of $115,000 are available for 1952 as shown below: Appropriations for 1951 $2,600,000 Deductions (expenditures non-recurring in 1952) U.S. National Museum (equipment) $15,945 Maintenance and Operation (alterations) 100,000 Maintenance and Operation (equipment) 42,055 Total deductions 158,000 Base for 1952 $2,442,000 Estimate for 1952 $2,557,000 Added funds available for 1952 $115,000 A.W.
