Dear folks,

One can think of more things to do on the morning before one's worst exam! (The grape-vine has it that this is the worst exam the economics department has given for years years). I wrote a thank-you letter to Connie & Kath already. Georgette has so far managed to take almost 2 baths a day & washed every piece of clothing showing a speck of dirt, & her hair--We are all now masters of cleanliness. I don't believe a thing Miss Sherman says when she criticizes our sloppiness in exam period -- tho' books are apt to pile helter-skelter till each particular exam is over. Incidentally, Miss Sherman has been [[strikethrough]] assuring [/strikethrough]] making sure we took decent time in eating lately by dining at the various dorms -- a nice thought, but unfortunately creative of more tension than it was intended to remedy (You can leave as soon as you finish eating at supper now, which is a great relief.)

Matty's exam in Tragedy was very nice: it was fairly subjective, to see how the problems of the dramas were [[strikethrough]] presented [/strikethrough]] felt by us, and how we conceived of tragedy: what one got out of the course, in short: and it was more personal than any exam I've taken: and relieved the fears of us all, it being more like a conversation than a testing. Which doesn't mean we all get B's.
