March 30

1978 - Thursday - 28º at 6:30. Fair - high about 50º - nice day - not as warm as yesterday - Wes put snow mold preventive (     ) on back lawn - cut off broken limb from spruce and white pine near sheds. I cleaned livingroom waxing to remove plaster dust. Picked up more sticks. Wes removed covering from taxus at end of house. Transferred bird feeder from dogwood to white birch at end of house. To Dan Macklin's at 6 pm for a drink. Pair of Mallard came for corn - first this spring.

1979 - Friday - 44º at 6 AM - cloudy. Put corn out for our Mallard pair and suet before breakfast Two squirrels around again - one comes down chain to feeder - Wes tried to shoot him - no shell. To Mass. Wes made new corn feeder - we put it under fir tree till Broccoli and cabbage seeds are up - put light on over them. Worked outdoors raking leaves at entrance of driveway - took off all evergreen coverings - cut off daylilies at barn wall. Picked up debris at shed willow raked Weds.

1980 - Sunday - 42º at 6 AM. Cloudy - hope rain is over - no flood but high in overflow. Wes "rid" 2 Canada Geese before breakfast.
To 8 o'clock Mass - took blueberry muffins for food sale. Read papers - We did accounts - jade plant overturned - repotted it. Raked small evergreen bank - taking off salt hay. Rescued big plank from Ghee's bridge. Cold miserable day - nice fire in evening.

1981 - Monday - 51° at 6 AM. Partly cloudy - hope for rain - started at 1:30 - light but welcome - continued until 6 pm. To St Charles Kitchens, Scot Corner, left deposit check - saw laundry equipment at Albano's. Stopped at Ridgefield Savings Bank for mortgage form. Home for hobbies - Wes in shop - I lengthened skirt - irones. President Reagan, Policeman, Secret Service man & Pres. Spokesman Brady shot in Washington - Reagan in good condition

1982 - Tuesday - 28° at 6 AM - Sun coming thru the crack in the mountain at 6:06. Saw pair of Mallards land on the lake. Beautiful sunny day - just made 60°. To Mass. To Hamden for machinery auction - too big machine for Wes' shop. Lunch at Stratford Inn - stopped at Basics and Marcus enroute home. Jeremy & Howard came to put in electricity for electric water heater. Transplanted lettuce into vegetable box - game some to Gizella

March 31

1978 - Friday - 25° at 6 AM. Cloudy - became sunny and pleasant - high 52°. I took Gizella to Workshop at Greenhouse at 10 o'clock - Perennials - bought Begonia plants - stopped for a Burning Permit - after lunch we grocery shopped - liquor - clothes from cleaners - Wes worked in shop for a couple hours - I washed hair - To Mrs. Sharp's at 7 o'clock for Father Tighe's Birthday Party 18 people. Wes put on grass seed in back. Pair Mallards back.

1979 - Saturday - 46º at 5:45 - Foggy - Put out corn for ducks - they are shy of new corn tray. Two Canada Geese before breakfast - chased them - a loner after Mass - chased him. Mild day - mostly sunny. Left at 11 o'clock for Southbury- 75th Anniversary luncheon CNR in Harrison Inn/Center. Wes only man so we had lunch at Bazaar - shopped - We bought me "Julia Child & Company" cookbook. Home at 3 o'clock nap - Took houseplants outdoors - used Malathion - loads of gnats, MQ home from Savannah - gave us "Blue Bill" Tile

1980 - Monday - 40º at 6 AM. Sprinkling - pond is down below drain. Chased 2 Canada Geese. To 8 o'clock Mass. Started snowing. Continued all day - didn't stick to terrace but a beautiful winter scene.
Hobbies. I finished light blue wrap skirt. Wes in shop. I made blueberry muffins and brownies - they were too soft.

1981 - Tuesday - 54º at 6 AM - clearing - warm sunny breezy day - over 70º. To 7 o'clock Mass. Took cover from rhododendron and taxus at front of house - trimmed pacysandra [[pachysandra]]. To Bogus site - saw Mike there just back from Honda - discussed plan and mortgage. Home for lunch. I picked up Sabrina Crewe and showed her home and new lot - enroute to her home walked McKeon development. Wes worked at Bogus - I joined him for some clearing at North knoll.

1982 - Wednesday - 40º at 6 AM - Partly cloudy. Finished Times crossword puzzle at breakfast table
Rain started before 10 - Continued lightly all day - thunderstorm in evening.
Warner and John Pierce here to install the electric water heater - tank in hay loft - finished about three o'clock. Planted Janis lettuce- shortened the Jasmine spruce wire. Took nap after workers left. Wes had time in shop.
