June 4

1978- Sunday- 58° at 7 AM. Clear - Beautiful day. To 9:30 Mass. Few outdoor chores afterwards and Wes worked on budget book. To George & Hellen Stephenson's new home in Bethel for lunch and walk on trails - beautiful land - their friend Hugh from California there. Home at 6 pm- Wes cut big lawn - I dusted "crops"- planted row of beets and filled in carrot row - picked asparagus for dinner. 
  
1979 - Monday- These notes By Wes- I was in Milwaukee 58° - cloudy - rain during night. Shopped Agway, Bethel PO Ace - Grand Union for bananas - Marcus - gas - shop work 10 to 11. .4" rain in gauge - 65° degree high for day - Eileen phoned 5 pm- her painting finished inside. Dinner by himself - stew. G'note:- Tour Milwaukee Zoo - Dinner at Milwaukee County Museum - Exhibit Streets of Old Milwaukee - dinner of sausage - sauerkraut.

1980 - Wednesday - 50° at 6 AM. Fair and cool. Took cucumbers to Ross' to tend while we were away. Eileen here at 8 - We left at 8:45 - 84 to Hartford - 91 to Deerfield - saw houses - Spoke to Mary Merriam Quilter - to Steamtown, Bellows Falls - to Quechee Gorge - (Route 4) to Woodstock Inn - Rooms 238 & 240 - very attractive - had drink in room - dinner at 6:30 - Stanley Steamer didn't run account shower - walked about town - read funnies - to bed at 10 pm-

1981 - Thursday - 61° at 6 AM. Cloudy. Foggy. (Re 1973- Eileen has sold her Cape property)
To Mass. Transplanted Jacobs Ladder - staked delphinium, moved annuals, edged, weeded etc. Wes cut across both bridges. Took variegated Hosta and Bleeding Heart to Bogus. Plumber had installed the roughing - septic system was covered. 
Nice rain at 6 o'clock.

1982 - Friday - 52° at 6 AM - Mostly cloudy Joe Keller came yesterday to pick up weed later - Terry will buy it. 
Played golf 8-10 - Wes had very good shots. I shopped Finast and Scholls in Bethel - bought butterflied lamb and beef kebobs for the grill.
Wes put Milorganite on grass. I planted the 2 allium grown from AHS seed - placed sand in terrace stones [[? ?]] - To Ruth Sharp's at 5 for a drink - Alex there- Helen sick.

June 5

1978 - Monday - 46° at 6:30 - cloudy - no mass as going to NYC - Wes took tests at Presbyterian - on to Texaco garage - left car & bags - to 15th floor Chrysler Building saw Ann Nappa - Gail - Kay - Mr. Singleton in Texaco offices. Shopped Saks for bluejeans - Tiffany & Royal Copenhagen for pitcher - no luck either place - back to garage for bags - taxi to Algonquin - Room 410 - dinner - St. James Theatre "On the 20th Century" - wonderful show - beautiful day & night

1979 - Tuesday - 56° at 5:45 - cloudy (Wes' notes) Ducks waiting for corn. Chased 2 deer on back road. Magovern says new fuel pump ordered for Jacobsen. Sun out 9 AM - beautiful day - 80° at 3 pm. Mowed big lawn, below barn - across little bridge. To MQ & Jule's at 5:30 for dinner - thunderstorm - .85" of rain. 
G in Milwaukee - Annual GCA meeting AM -luncheon at Performing Art Center (Bluebird house Centerpiece) bicycle race in City- Dinner Milwaukee Art Center on Lake Michigan.
 
1980 - Thursday - at Woodstock Inn - Woodstock, Vt. - Beautiful fall day - Walk thru covered bridge after breakfast. Took 10 o'clock Floral Walk on Laurence Rockefeller's Mountain - Resort Forester John Wiggin - learned some wildflowers. Walked to Country Club for lunch - after a nap walked trail to Mt. Peg. Came down into village - did shop - bought plant hangers. Helen Hanley Lambert didn't send word about joining, so had dinner at 7 o'clock in hotel.

1981 - Friday - 56° at 6:30. Beautiful day- high 82°. Cut front lawn and trimmed. To Ridgefield to pay month's interest to Freemans - Shopped Brunetti Stop & Shop & liquor. Put fertilizer on lawn in front of perennial garden. Put fungicide on lawn under trees and in back. To Bogus - plumber had done more work- stairs delivered - we planted more scilla, iris cristada - Joan's variegated iris.

1982 - Saturday - 54° at 6 pm - Raining - all day - hard at times - 1 1/4 inches by 3 pm 
Cleaned house - took all morning- 
Lunch & nap - Wes worked on holder for Williamsburg birdhouse. I made Brownies and Almond-Coconut cookies. Read some of accumulated papers. 
Put heat on for dinner.
