November 17

1978 - Friday - 32° at 6:30. Cloudy & rain started at noon. To Mass. John Murray & Son delivered fill for road-behind blueberries and at low spot near bank at West End - finished just when rain started. Wes worked on new outhouse pit. I polished floors - took shoulder pads out of last year's brown check suit. To Danbury - obtained duplicate car registration -shopped IGA there & Marcies. To King Neptune for dinner as guests Helen & Alex - he had sold a painting

1979 - Saturday - 32° at 5:45. Fair - Temperature went over 50 during day. To Mass. Wes cut off 6 x 6 tie to 5 feet - drilled hole in top, buried it at front step corner and erected bell- Looks great. I put coat of silicone on new front stoop and steps. Cut off perennial bed plants - pulled willow branches from pond - pulled some beautiful carrots. Good outdoor working day - cocktail on breezeway. Went to Church Fair A.M.

1980 - Monday - 18° at 6:15. Ice on ponds - Mallard have a crescent open - very hungry as we didn’t feed last night. Fair morning - clouded up in afternoon - Snow at night. Wes took car to Honda - rented Pinto - very hard to drive - had haircut - shopped Basics. Took Voltaire tarp to Mike Dellman in Redding - left sachets at Madeline [[strikethrough]] Dellman [[/strikethrough]] Morrison - home for lunch & nap - returned for car at 4 pm. Pat Crehan said closing on property next Monday.

1981 - Tuesday - 46° at 6 AM. Mostly cloudy - light rain at night. To 8 o'clock Mass. I had filling replaced by Dr Yanity at 9. Stopping for gas enroute. Mr Regan - drapery man - measured for den draperies - shades and Bob Coller chairs. I went to luncheon at Carol Stoddards. She had Dr & Mrs Ratchford (Dingle Ridge) speakers at RGC meeting - wildflowers - I was home at 5 pm. Wes finished ditch for path lights. Tile down in greenhouse. Will grout tomorrow. Mike taped garage. 

1982 - Wednesday - 32° at 6:30. Fair morning - partly sunny day - 
Polished brass & copper - Emptied rain barrels - put them away. Put Hollybone on rest of evergreens - put last of hoses in crawl spaces - transplanted streptocarpus - put golf clubs in hay loft. 
Went down Old Mill Road to pick dried grasses. 

November 18

1978- Saturday- 61° at 6 AM- rain during night -(.85 IN. Rain)- clearing at breakfast time. Fast wind. Beautiful day. Bulldozer parked at West End, but no one came to spread fill. Wes worked on Johnny- buying concrete blocks for foundation. I made mince/apple pie - Quiche (for Thanksgiving) and blueberry cake for Eileen tomorrow. I cut off daylilies at maple over big bridge and trimmed brook bank all the way back to veg garden. Raked grass terrace not many apples this year, thank God.

1979 - Sunday - 28° at 6:15- Fair. Report says sunny & milder. It was - a beautiful day - good for anything! To 8 o'clock Mass - Wes pulled willow branches from pond & I trimmed spruce near shed - pulled carrots for June.  To Silver Spring [[strikethrough]] valley [[/strikethrough]] Club for lunch at 1 as guests of Billie Newell - Jessups there also. Home to cut grass terrace, front and back & trolley fill. Raked leaves furrowed. Wes cleaned under willows. Ryan Kilduff tried to catch their big black duck - no luck. 

1980- Tuesday- 32° at 6 AM - heavy wet snow - about 3 inches. To Mass. Father Birge there as Fr. Medynski in hospital - over tired. To bank to arrange loan for property - will take it on Monday - interest now 18 1/4%! 
Indoor hobbies except to feed birds and ducks. Put duck board in pond to help Pike get up bank but she couldn't use it. 

1981- Wednesday. 44° at 6 AM (.41 in gauge) cloudy in morning - some clearing in afternoon. Greenhouse tile completed. Joan Mannon started papering guest bath. We shopped Meekers - drug store - Basics - took Dime Savings Bond book from safe deposit box - redeemable Dec. 31st. Laid out veg garden raised beds locations. I cleaned more stained tile spots in den & kitchen. Mannions brought us a watercolor of the house.
 
1982- Thursday - 28° at 6 AM. Fair morning- cloudy from 8 o'clock on. To Mass. Cleaned upstairs. Wes is vacuuming den every morning now - after the evening's fire. To Dr Yanity at 1 pm - teeth cleaned. Wes goes back for a filling. Shopped Brunetti - Grand Central- Bedents[[?]]for chrysanthemums - liquor. Pepperidge. Home - put apple, cone together partially - early dinner - I went to Landscaping Committee at church 7:30/11.
