November 21

1983 - Monday - 52° at 7 AM - Had shower overnight 9/10 inch rain - surprised us as we didn't hear anything.  Became beautiful day.  I went to Greenhouse - brought home soil not used by ladies planting bulbs - sent card to Mr Long - shopped Stop & Shop - home for lunch.  Wes now has bad cold/cough - rested.  I raked leaves on South side - cleaned up perennial bed at Northeast corner - raked front walk as leaves gather there.  Made Indian Pudding for dinner - too sweet.

1984 - Wednesday - 22° at 6:45 - Clear - Ice on pond for first time.  Beautiful day.  Sandwich in Solar.
I cooked for tomorrow in the morning - Wes was in the shop - working out his problem on the tank top.
After lunch we shredded leaves on south path to bog - discovered we can't shred Japanese Iris leaves - they jammed the knives - delayed us about an hour to release them - cleaned up all leaves in that area.  I picked leaves from wall garden.  Enjoyed "You Can't Take it With You" on Channel 13 in evening.

1985 - Thursday - 46° at 6 AM - Cloudy - cleared to a mostly beautiful day - increasing cold in afternoon.  To Mass.  I planted the ornamental grasses (2) Muriel Pedersen sent me - (for the 87 Gavel) brought them into kitchen on light stand.  Wes had shop hour.  We left at 11:15 for Scarsdale - 12:30 appointment with Dr Howanitz - spots on face are precancerous - will be treated later.  Luncheon - good red snapper - at Dario's - near Lord & Taylor - Wes used to go there - home at 4:30 after a stop at Nobels for a spreader and dwarf bulbs to force - had no dwarf rhododendron

1986 - Friday - 30° at 6:30 - fell to 28° and lower later but clearing.  Rosses with us for breakfast - they left afterwards as their power back on - [[strikethrough]] I went [[/strikethrough]] took Wes to pick up Honda.  I went with Gizella to Stop & Shop to buy chrysanthemum plants for church flowers - on to Muriel Pedersen for her White pine down in storm - Home to wash hair - Wes had showered & dressed.  We went to Silvermine Tavern for Texaco luncheon postponed from Wednesday - home at 4 pm for a nap - Not as much snow and damage at Silvermine - a pretty area.

1987 - Saturday - 25° at 7 AM - Fair - very cold day - a high wind made it colder - 22° at bed time.
Prepared dinner for Kelly, Carolyn & Pete - who moved from Fairfield to Ridgefield - their movers were late so they didn't come until 7 pm - John Davis, after canceling out, showed up.  Pleasant evening - Wes made a fire despite high wind - livingroom was nice & warm.  Wes fed the birds, so I didn't go out at all.


November 22

1983 - Tuesday - 44° at 6 AM.  Clear - mild - a beautiful day.  To Mass.  Wes' cold is still bad.  I went to Stop and Shop - liquor - Brunetti for Oven Stuffer Roaster (6 lbs)  Made piecrust dough - grapevine oval with vines Gizella gave me
Wes' rested - gathered wood for our fire
20th Anniversary of President Kennedy's death - watched show of his Press Conferences at 10 PM.

1984 - Thanksgiving - 24° at 6:15.  Wes has a cold - bad in chest today.  Beautiful sunny cold day.
Prepared house and dinner for Eileen, Boo and Mary here at noon - Pleasant afternoon - good turkey if I do say so.
Calico cat off the Solar Room drove Boo crazy.

1985 - Friday - 35° at 7 AM - Starting to rain - rained all day - (.44 Saturday morning in gauge.)
I went for a haircut at 9:30 and shopped Stop & Shop and bought more mouse traps - luckily we haven't caught anything last two nights - will put traps in garage.
Very quiet day - Wes in shop - I worked on Crossword, knitted - made bread pudding in Microwave.

1986 - Saturday - 30° at 7:15 - Sunny - beautiful day - not much snow melted but Solar Roof cleared.  Did wash - prepared lunch for Eileen.  Out to free lilac (lost couple branches) ilex verticillata and shed.  Wes spread snow on driveway.  Eileen & Boo & Snow here at 12:15/3:15 - Snow is more relaxed - beautiful dogs.  We cleaned up - napped - read papers.

1987 - Sunday - 22° at 6:30 - Fair - very cold and windy - not outdoor weather.
Lazy day for us - read papers.  Wes tried to finish crossword - Saturday's very difficult.
I made Tavern Bars and chocolate chip cookies.
Kelly phoned from Carolyn & Pete's - leaving at noon for Syracuse.
