November 23

1983 - Wednesday - 36° at 6:30 - Beautiful sky.  Sun 6:45-4:34 - good morning- cloudy P.M.
Made preparations for dinner tomorrow.  Wes' cold better.  He rented a drill and placed the landscape tie (half round) along the vegetable garden path - behind the Pieris and another layer on the triangle bed - I put chips on path.  Stayed up to midnight to watch "The Citadel" - worth it!  Good fire made it very warm.

1984 - Friday - 25° at 7 AM - Sun rose 6:52 - Sets 4:32.  Except for one period mid-morning it was a beautiful sunny day - went over 40° in afternoon.
To UPS with Holmden's Christmas package (Igloo) only to find it didn't open until noon - stopped for gasoline at new Texaco station on Federal Road.  Gave us a token for a car wash.  Bananas at Shoprite - home.
After lunch Wes put on rest of fertilizer.  I spread rest of lime - raked leaves into bog water run and over cliff - getting cleaned up - put cages around evergreens on wall garden.

1985 - Saturday - 36° at 6:45 - Beautiful morning - no mice in traps!  Lovely day - cool and sunny
House chores.  To Waldbaums - left shoes at shoemaker for soles - Marcus.
Home to work outdoors for an hour - took plastic from pool - put rocks at dell water course - hope not too many leaves to into pool.  Wes put new spreader together and after lunch put fertilizer on grass.
Raked leaves in spots - cut off last of perennials - blew walks free of leaves with lawnboy [[Lawn-Boy]] - still have gasoline in it.

1986 - Sunday - 28° at 6:15 - Clear - Nice day.  To 8 o'clock Mass.  To Farmington Market for Rock Garden Plantsman Lecture Luncheon - good meal - slides of plants not very interesting for our garden.  Shopped Waldbaums enroute home - Tried to nap but no success - To Rosses at 7 pm for dinner - Father Tighe there - home at 10:15.

1987 - Monday - 22° at 6:30 - Beautiful sky - put heat on and went back to bed for a half hour.  Ice on pond.  No mice in kitchen draw traps - only caught 4 this fall - so far.  Not a bad day - warmed up in afternoon - high clouds.  Washed - ironed - to Pharmacy for Wes' blood pressure pills - they hadn't heard from Dr. Neligan - Meekers for chain for gate - left tablecloth at laundry - Waldbaum's for groceries - lunch - nap - put burlap around dwarf pine - Wes worked on gate chain - not satisfied with look.


November 24

1983 - Thursday - Thanksgiving Day.  46° at 7 AM.  Sprinkles overnight.  Mist and light rain in the morning - heavier at afternoon - too bad for travelers.
Set up fire in livingroom - set table - prepared for Eileen Mary and Boo here at noon - left at 3:30 because of fog - short visit - dinner was good - Bit called - she had returned with Skeet from Clem & Neil's - was on her way to Gus & Carolyn's.

1984 - Saturday - 28° at 6:30 - Beautiful pink clouds in east before sunrise.  Mostly fair day - sun out - not too much wind.  Solar rose to 70° mid afternoon.
Transplanted the rabbit foot fern into wire basket - hard on floor with drips!  Wes in shop in morning - rested cold in afternoon - watched Notre Dame beat Southern Cal.  I cut off dead parts of Aquilegia in wall garden - ran the pump down watering the year's transplants.  Wes brought in wood for fire

1985 - Sunday - 36° at 6:15 - Fair - No mice in traps - beginning to think the problem is over.  We ut back all the cutlery and towels, etc.
Very breezy day.  To 8 o'clock Mass - Read papers - did house chores - repotted Spathyphyllum - planted Species Tulips - Muscari - Species Crocus for forcing.
To Billie Newell's at 5 for a cocktail party - good - home at 7:30.  Last episode of South Pole "Last Place on Earth" - glad its over.

1986 - Monday - 47° at 7:30 - Slept late - good - Cloudy - damp.
Wes cut up the top of red maple broken in storm and resting on south grass.  I took rock garden plants to Greenhouse - sent card to Mr Long - shopped Stop & Shop for cranberries, turnip for Thanksgiving.  Home for lunch & nap.  Wes worked on putting up board in shop Johnny to hold towel bar.  I ironed tablecloth - fed birds - picked up sticks - repotted 3 Amaryllis, brought in plants from Solar.

1987 - Tuesday - 37° at 7 AM - Partly cloudy.  Wes paid Wright ($3040) and Castle for conduit for fence $450);  I went to Garden Club meeting at Louise McKeon's at 10 o'clock - then on to Brunetti to pick up turkey - filled car with Super $1.27 gal.
Wes had gotten leaf chipped started - he chipped leaves after lunch.  He also polished the balance.
We picked up blood pressure pills.
