December 19

1983 - Monday - 28° at 6:45 - after early morning flurries a very cold day. 
Oil delivery - 243 gals $1:07 - a good price. 
Took some of Varga's spruce branches to church - Louise and Alex were to set up crib.  Onto Ridgefield - meat at Brunetti no suet - luckily found some at Stop & Shop - no tree at Caldor's.  Home for lunch - nap in den - good to feel sun on face.  I sewed on long wool skirt - ironed - Wes worked in shop.  Wes out only to fill birdfeeders.  

1984 - Wednesday - 29° at 6:30 - Cloudy - Rain started about 9:30 - light all day. 
To Stop & Shop - Liquor Store when bought Fontana Candida wine for Eileen's Christmas - to Georgetown - Benedictine George had articles from Central American countries - bought small dove for Crib - tin angel which we hung over den fireplace - I made chicken soup after boning chicken breasts - finished Christmas decorating - put boxes away.  Wes finished top of tender - made a little hatch cover & handle.

1985 - Thursday - 18° at 6 AM - Dark - Solar was 28° so must turn up heater to keep water in tree from freezing - Cold all day - High 24° - but sunny luckily.
To Mass - I wrote letters - Wes in shop - out to drive posts around front dwarf white pine but too cold for my hands to tie on burlap - lunch - nap - to Bethel to buy a two-drawer metal file & supplies - on to Record World to buy Dvorak's New World and Bach selections of compact disc as Cuccioli phoned player came in - home to set up records in file drawer - Broker phoned we bought 50 Housing Authority bonds with Texaco Stock Sale money. 

1986 - Friday - 36° at 7AM - Mixture of snow & rain about an inch on the ground.  High wind - Snow & rain continued until 11 AM - Wes did the shoveling - House and [[strikethrough]] flow [[/strikethrough]] plant chores.  Put old snow tires in car - cleaned it out - to bank to get Bank check for new car - to Colonial Honda at 2 pm. - turned over $14,524.85 plus $590 for five year special warranty - Wes said it drove like a dream.  Read booklet in evening - a lot of buttons. 

1987 - Saturday - 28° at 7AM - Cloudy.  Sun 7:15-4:30 - Cleared in afternoon - raw cold morning so no walk. 
We put an electric connection in stable of crib - looked very nice when dark came.  I started raising hem of pleated wine Jaeger skirt - big job. 
We went to Brookfield Fine Arts Theater at 1:30 for "Batteries not Included" by Stephen Spielberg with Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy - cute - Home for shower - to Penitential Service Mass at 5:30 which turned out to be 5 o'clock so we had Mass only.
  
December 20

1983 - Tuesday: 14° at 6AM - Sun 7:16-4:31.  Very cold sunny winter day.  To Mass.
To Flower Time on Dobbs Ferry Road - bought 4 foot immitataion Christmas tree, garland and work gloves for Wes - to Bloomingdales, bought Kleenex holder - didn't like glass set - to City Hall, Wes picked up Metropolitan form to apply for medical bills refund - to Le Chateau for lunch - home - Wes split wood - I delivered Amaryllis for Ruth Sharp's Christmas - Set up little tree - too big for table - put on floor near stairs.

1984 - Thursday - 36° at 6 AM.  Beautiful winter day.  To Mass.
Wes went to Meekers, Ace - Emissions Test - Car passed first time - bought gasoline - car wash not working - bought more evergreen sprays for front door.  I cooked chicken breasts in lemon sauce and froze them.  After lunch we worked along road above mailbox - cutting out small trees and cutting them up - added stones to road edge near mailbox - Area looked much better.  Early to bed.

1985 - Friday - 13° at 7 AM - Clear - Snow predicted for afternoon & evening.  Cold day - clouded before noon - dreary.  Wes in shop.  I did a wash.  Cuccoli delivered the CD player - so small - we played the New World and Bach.  Set up stock records in new file.  Took table from den, put it in livingroom next to velvet chair at fireplace - better than small round one but not quite right.  Filled birdfeeders and moved small suet holder as racoon must have cleaned it out.

1986 - Saturday - 34° at 7 AM - Sun 7:16-4:31.  Good day - partly sunny - not too cold.
To Reclamation - gasoline - Stop & Shop - Caldor for Velcro to hold door opener to car - new car performed well.  Out after lunch - Wes spread more chips on compost walk - we covered Mugho Pine along front walk with netting - I covered Triangle Bed with chipped leaves - we went to Penitential Service at 4:45 followed by Mass - very noisy and crowded.

1987 - Sunday - 34° at 8 AM - Boy did we sleep in!  Lightly snowing - temperature rose luckily as it was icy early.  Miserable weather - damp - foggy - out only to fill bird feeders - birds eating a lot.
Wes cleaned his shop - john - ran vacuum in kitchen and den.  I lowered hem of Talbot (Eileen) suit - started the raising of Jaeger pleated skirt - made cookies - wrapped Christmas presents.  To Mary Luke's at 6 pm for cocktails - Most Ridgebury there.
We had our dinner at one, so just soup for supper.  Watched "Sorrel and Son" on Channel 13 at 9 pm.
