February 17

1988 - Ash Wednesday - 24° at 6:30 - Cloudy
Sun 6:48-5:32 cleared before 11 to a sunny great winter day. Did more tax work - about finished. Wes in shop - we walked to Henley's before 11 - to Mass at noon - lunch - nap - Vargas left for a few days in Vermont - Horizon Foods came - bought chicken and shrimp. Phoned Inn to make arrangements for Oct. 8 luncheon.

1989 - Friday - 18° at 6AM - beautiful pink rim in sky at 6:30. Sun 6:47-5:33. To Mass. Visited Bleckwehl's dogs - all well there - to Cheese Shop to buy gift for Gizella's birthday - to Waldbaum's for bananas, etc. Lunch - nap. Took our walk - 2 miles - before lunch.
I went for material for a blue print dress - will use same pattern as plain blue just finished.

1990 - Saturday - 38° at 7AM - Sun coming up - to be sunny and windy - it was - very windy.
House chores - took a two-mile walk - to Marcus to pick up N.Y. Times - Streeter didn't deliver this morning - first time ever - after lunch and nap we hobbied. I also re wrote tax figures - waiting for figures from Polaris.

1991 - Sunday - 22° at 6AM. Light snow overnight Forecast is for rising temperature and flurries.
Sun 6:48-5:32. Snow stopped at 8:30 (while in church) Sun out - not a bad day. We had raked the driveway clear before leaving for Mass. Read some papers. Wes balanced books. Picked up Helen at 12:10 and drove to Inn where we had a luncheon for Nancy Carroll Draper, the Sattlers Punkie Scott. Home at 3 pm - nap. Worked on tax records Phoned girls. Eileen had been to the Arch with Vera.

1992 - Monday - 32° at 7AM. Sun 6:48-5:32. Beautiful morning - and day - clouded up in evening. Telephone man came on the phone interruption - turned out to be on box Pine Mt. & 9. W. Highway - good to have service back. Wes cut down big Euonymous at mailbox - I helped cut it up and we carried it to woods between us and Grouses. Filled birdfeeders. Took a mile walk - wonderful temperature 52°. Wes tried to balance checkbook - out $20.25 with the bank. I planted Salvia Victoria and Bright Butterflies Snapdragon seeds.

February 18

1988 - Thursday - 32° at 6:30 - cloudy. Sun 6:47-5:33
Became a sunny beautiful winter day - about 46°
Over 80° in Solar at noon for our sandwich. Wes took car to Honda - just oil change and filter - just over 10,000 miles. We then went to Bethel - bought Balsamic Vinegar for Gizella's birthday - Hartford Office Supply for manila envelopes and to make copies of tax records for Lon Krawcheck - took our 2 miles walk to Henley's - lunch - nap - put pots of bulbs in Solar - Wes in shop.

1989. Saturday - 18° at 6:30 - 17° at 7:30. Fair Sun 6:46-5:34. Good winter day - cold but sunny.
Wes cleaned his shop & Johnny. I cut out the blue print dress, putting heat on in living room. Took only a mile walk as early lunch & nap and went to the movies - Mississippi Burning - cruel but good - Gene Hackman nominated for an Oscar. Home at 4pm - washed hair - showered - cocktail & dinner

1990 Sunday - 18° at 6AM - clear - new moon in South
Cold - clear - sunny - windy day. To 8 o'clock Mass. Father asked for increased contributions - he is 69 and needs a custodian. We had a pleasant day - read papers phoned Bit - Joan not home - did crossword - hobbies - had a mile walk before lunch (dinner) Wes cooked lamb chops - had a martini - put one six-pack of Lobelia Illumination under lights in kitchen

1991 - Monday - Presidents Day Holiday - 24° at 7AM Sun 6:46-5:34. Not too bad early but forecast for snow so we walked early. Light snow about 11 - all day - luckily temperature rose slowly to 34°. Did more tax work - almost finished but need Polaris information which last year came end Feb. Wes in shop. I fixed arm holes of black/wht tweed jacket.
To Jane Jessup's at 6 pm - picking up Helen Ross - dinner party for Nancy Carroll - 16 people - good - home at 10pm.

1991 - Thursday - 36° at 6 AM. Sun 6:47-5:33 None today. To Mass. Did crossword. I worked at Ballard Greenhouse 9:30-noon - Muriel, Edith and I met John Pinchbeck in the Garden to discuss trimming the lilacs Wes had tried to balance checkbook - we got it down to 75¢ later in day. Andy Vell came to pick up wood along the road. We showed him trees in wild garden to cut out - says he will do it in a couple week. Damp & chilly day. Wes received a 300 postal money order for his "Live Steam" magazines.
