February 27

1988 - Saturday - 28° at 6:30 - lightly snowing. about half inch on ground & snow showers all day - no higher than 30°. No walk - Wes raked driveway and shoveled front walk - must have been about 1 1/2-2 inches in all.
Spent day preparing house and dinner - did some work on crossword.
Carolyn & Pete here at 6:30 - (should have asked them earlier than 6:15) Rushed to get to Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra on time - made it at 8:30 - violinist good - Pete had to leave at intermission - back pains - We took Carolyn home.

1989 - Monday - 28° at 6 AM - Cloudy. Sun 6:33-5:45. Half & Half day but not bad - high 41°. To Mass - on to Waldbaum for bananas and vegetables. About one inch of snow from last night - Wes cleared front walk - rest just melted. Early brunch and nap. I went to John Jay to meet Eileen there for a talk on paintings - Eileen brought bread and a large HO oatmeal. Home at 5:15 - President Bush back from Japan - China - Korea (funeral of Hirohito) hopes to save nomination of Tower for Sec'y Defense We hope Tower is defeated - he was!

1990 - Tuesday - 8° at 6:30. Fair early - then clouds before noon - snow in afternoon - about an inch. Did crossword & watered plants - turned tulips & daffodils To Fred Esser's funeral mass at 10 - home 11:30 to have a martini for Shrove Tuesday. 
Hobbies in afternoon.

1991 - Wednesday - 29° at 6:45. About a foot of snow. Sun 6:34-5:44. Some flurries at breakfast time but cleared at 9 AM - sun out in afternoon. Raked driveway and the walk to the birdfeeder.
All of Kuwait now free - over 50,000 prisoners - Kuwait gov't returned - American & British Embassies to open - 
Wes took me to North Street where Heidi Riggs had left her son at Cammie Distons -  Heidi drove to Greenwich We had 1 pm meeting Passing Committee - watched 4x5 gardens being made. Home at 4. Took tax data to P.O. to mail to Krawchick

1992 - Thursday. 32° at 5 AM. Up early to go to Greenwich for Preview of Spring show. Heard Nimet on WQXR! Sun 6:34-5:44. Good day - some sun - lucky for me driving to Greenwich to serve on Passing Committee - Tulips - with Phoebe Hornblower of Hortulus - what I saw of show looked beautiful - home at 11. Wes had set up TR - worked in shop. We took a mile walk after lunch - picked up sticks around grounds - admired the Eagle Weathervane - checked uproad to see where Andy Vale had taken wood - watered fuschia in crawlspace - did the crossword. I made another buttonhole in blue "big shirt"  

February 28

1988 - Sunday - 20° at 6:35 - Overslept - no wonder. Luckily had oatmeal and coffee setup and counters cleared. To 8 o'clock Mass. Quiet day - we enjoyed it. Read papers - knitted - Wes straightened up shop. Took a walk (1 mile) and walked around place checking plants and picking up sticks. Had Martini in Solar and our sandwich.

1989 - Tuesday. 22° at 6 am - Partly cloudy after a beautiful early morning. To Mass. I prepared Herb Squashed Strawberry Pot & took it to greenhouse where met Muriel to discuss showing at Green Fingers - shopped for groceries. Wes in shop. After lunch and nap we worked on labels for the herbs and wrote up card of herb uses. 

1990 - Ash Wednesday - 28° at 7 AM - Sun up - beautiful day but cold and windy. To Postoffice to mail tax information to Krawchick - Stop & Shop - Bank for cash. Marcus - home to dress for Mass at twelve. Lunch - nap - hobbies. Burpee delivered aluminum disc which we put over tube bird feeder - hope it fools the squirrel

1991 - Thursday - 26° at 5 AM. Up early as have to be at "Preview of Spring" show at 7:30. Sun 6:32-5:45.  
Ceasefire declared in Persian Gulf as of last midnight Hope all is over there. 
Left at 6:20 for Greenwich - put in Narcissus Trevithean and Apricot Beauty Tulips and worked until 10 on Passing Home at 11 - we went shopping Stop & Shop, Marcus, and I bought a zipper. Lunch nap - hobbies. Wes had worked in shop & cleared front walk & compost path.

1992 - Friday - 32° at 6AM. Sun 6:32-5:45. Mostly cloudy - some sun late in day despite forecast of snow showers. To Mass. Did crossword. To Stop & Shop. Bananas 59¢/lb - a woman told us to wait until next week when she knew they would be 4 lbs/$1.00! Took our walk before lunch. Did some sewing on white blouse in afternoon and Wes in shop. 
"I'll Fly Away" - TV series which we like, was back on in evening. Washington Week celebrating their 25th Anniversary.
