October 4

1988 - Tuesday - 54° at 6 AM - Dark - cloudy, gloomy, damp - no rain.
Worked at Ballard Garden in morning - Wes came, transplanted daylilies and peonies - good crew started cutting down perennials. Wes picked up cleaned clothes. After lunch we cleaned spots on Solar floor - cleaned kitchen floor and put Stonyl on half of it - Polished some brass.

1989 - Wednesday. 45° at 7 AM - Clear - fair day very high cold wind. Wes went to Reclamation - took clothes to cleaner - Youngs for fertilizer - liquor - bank had car cleaned. I put propagated plants under lights - filled birdfeeder - cut grass - did a wash - ironed
Wes put on light timers - told Wright not to come to cut tree while we are away - Wes finished the lowering of the stones along upper path.

1990 - Thursday - 58° at 6 AM - Gloomy day - looked like rain - wind like a hurricane - only a short rain beginning at 5 pm.
To Mass. To bank, Marcus & Stop & Shop. I cut grass - Wes took screens off. Cut down small Striped maple on Wood Knoll along Viburnum path - took out root. I planted Hyacinths and Apricot Tulips for forcing. 
GE Repairman here 1:30 on Microwave - rumble is caused by heating of circulator shaft - no danger - $43.15.

1991 - Tuesday - 58° at 7 AM. Partly cloudy - leaving for Lock Haven day, Became warm, mostly sunny. Eileen came at 10:30 - we left at 11 (with Boo & Snow) construction on 84 & 80 but not too bad - reached Lock Haven about 4:30 - color in trees & shrubs beautiful enroute.
Joan & Hooker & Kelly at Bit’s - good catchup talk and dinner.

1992 - Sunday - 56° at 6:15 - overslept, but made it up before going to mass at 8 AM.
Cleaned house! Took all morning.
To S&S after lunch for items missed on Friday. No Christmas wrapping paper available.
I cut grass - moles back again after Wes had rolled. Washed car.

October 5

1988 - Wednesday. 50° at 7 AM - Cloudy.
Eileen phoned 7:30 - in Phelps Hospital after vomiting continually last night. May have gallstone - not gallstones but pancreas - no operation
Polished brass while waiting to hear about Eileen.
Mid afternoon to hospital - then to Hendrick Lane where spent night - took care of dogs. Eileen on inter-venous feeding - Phoned Bit at Neils to delay visit one day & come to Ridgefield.

1989 - Thursday - 42° at 7 AM - Fair - Leaving day for Holmdens Youngstown, N.Y. Eileen here at 10:15 after leaving dogs at kennel. We took Routes 84 - 17 - 390 - 63 to Geneseo, N.Y. - arriving at Geneseo Inn about 5 PM. Good trip - beautiful tree colors. Dinner at Inn.

1990 - Friday - 53° at 6:15 - Beautiful day. To Mass.
Raked the leaves - many years accumulation from east side of top slope - moved a cedar log to be the dividing line between the wooded and cultivated areas. 
In afternoon repaired deer fence at compost areas - bigger job than we thought - moved up black plastic fencing from Judson line to serve as a gate.
Saw deer damage outside fence along road.

1991 - Saturday - in Lock Haven. Fair morning - clouds in PM - thunderstorm at night.
Left at 10 for Bellefonte Historical Railroad. Eileen left dogs at Bit’s - Kelly's Robin there also.
Two hour train ride - most interesting for Wes. One diesel car. All volunteer help - explained history of road and geology of area. Box lunch. Back at Bit's at 4 pm to walk dogs - soup for supper - saw family pictures

1992 - Monday - 42° at 6:30. Fair. Made final preparations for family visit. Joan & Hooker arrived mid afternoon - walked about - drink - dinner. To Carolyn & Pete's for a visit with them and Kelly who had also come down in afternoon.
