The Ship-Worms. Wood Borers.
These mollusks live in wood floating or standing in seawater. When young they begin to bore more or less longitudinal burrows which increase in diameter and in length as the animals grow older, and which are often lined with shelly material. In time these burrows so completely [[^honeycomb]] [[strikethrough]]fill[[/strikethrough]] the wood that nothing but a mere shell is left. The Ship worms are especially
