Dear Friend:

Your name was given to us as a person that is concerned about American Indian problems. The Indians have had many problems but unfortunately, few solutions.

One solution....culture and religious centers run by Indian artists and medicine men....

Another solution...education and training centers run by Indians....

Yet, another solution...an economic base...some of our landless tribes need a base to live on......

Housing...warm houses with electricity and sewage....

Surplus properties touch on all these things.

The federal government is getting ready to give away 6.8 BILLIONS of dollars worth of federal surplus land. (reference: New York Times, March 31, 1971) Let's see that some of our Indian people get some before it is gone.

Help Indians, help themselves through self-determination. Return Surplus Lands to Indians.

A California committee is being formed. You are invited to join us at an initial organizing meeting on June 21, 1971 at Deliyauto-Quetzalcoatl University, Davis, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

I will appreciate knowing if you plan to attend.

Sincerely,

Grace Thorpe, Director
