April 26 SUNDAY
525 S.25 st.
After we got home I took a long bath + washed my hair.
Fair. We went to Liverpool Point – I fished on the wharph + caught 1 small (5") white perch. We bought a 5 lb. shad from some fisherman just had fished out from a net. (35c - cheap + good - we'll eat it tomorrow night). On way home I got earth + bluets I put around garden pool under peach tree - didn't put earth there. My garden around pool has violets, skunk cabbage + bunches of bluets + 5 moss (some) - about done. after supper at 7:45 we got a call from a woman who had seen our ad for a wanted bicycle (in Sat & Sun Star) & we went there (near Alexandria). The bike (red & white) is just right except it is too heavy - (continued up left side of page ) not nearly as heavy as Beverly's but mother wants to wait til light racing bicycles come on the market - (at top of page) it has good brakes.

MONDAY

Fair, but cloudy. I went to school. After school I planted the rest of my garden with snapdragons, bachlors buttons & portulacas. There are 2 almost tame squirrels around here - take food from your hands. I am going to try to catch them. I took my singing lesson & got home at 9:45 after taking my teacher, Miss Linkins, to her club or something. Daddy registered at Patrick Henry School (next to T.J. Grammar School). All men between (35 overwritten with 44) and 65 had to register today!!!!
